The Purpose Energy & Infrastructure Coalition, part of the wider Purpose Coalition, is made up of the UK's most innovative leaders and businesses in the Energy and Infrastructure sectors.

The Purpose Energy and Infrastructure Coalition is leading the way on exploring the power of investing in greater UK energy security to level up our communities and tackle regional inequalities as a key pillar of the push to net zero.

Lord Walney

Chair, Purpose Energy & Infrastructure Coalition

Lord Walney is a former Labour MP who now sits as a crossbench peer in the House of Lords. He is a former adviser in the department of energy and spent a decade in parliament championing the diverse energy jobs in Cumbria, Britain’s energy coast.

Nearly twenty years in politics and government has seen him forge links across traditional political divides, especially on issues such as social mobility and levelling up.

We work to demonstrate the importance of greater investment in UK energy and infrastructure to Britain’s prosperity and the push to net zero, showing that energy security and economic security go hand in hand. In an uncertain world, energy and infrastructure businesses have a crucial leadership role in securing our energy supply, innovating to achieve net zero and creating many thousands more skilled jobs in areas of the UK in need of opportunity.

We work to share best practice and develop policy solutions that will help transform our economy by securing our energy future through a balanced mix of resources, invest in our infrastructure and allow the sector to create even more well paid and skilled opportunities.
